Land

From the moment that we take our first steps until the day when our bones or ashes are returned to it, the land around us provides so many of the the basic necessities of life. Yet as the human population grows in ways unprecedented, so do our demands on the ground beneath our feet. With spring soon upon us, WORLD looks at this fundamental and ever-changing relationship via stories of how we use, preserve, exploit and celebrate the one-third of the earth that is land.
