Gil is a 3rd generation Japanese American and author of "Being Japanese American". In addition to his popular blog Nikkeiview.com, Gil has been active in the Denver Japanese community as executive board member of the Japan-America Society of Colorado, former president of the Japanese American Citizens League's Mile-High Chapter, and was the Editorial Board Chair for the Pacific Citizen, the JACLs national bimonthly newspaper.
